The Wing Difference: Educating the Whole Child…

Screen Free

Before 9th grade, we are purposefully screen-free:

  • We don’t use movies or videos for instruction or entertainment.

  • Students do all work pencil to paper.

  • Final drafts of work are submitted in cursive.

Memory Work

  • All students memorize and recite the Wing Honor Code and the Preamble to the United States Constitution.

  • All students prepare lines of scripture, poetry, or prose to present 1-2x per year at weekly convocation.

  • Each class begins with a recitation related to the subject being taught, which includes review of material covered.

Active Bodies

  • We incorporate movement/fresh air and sunshine breaks every 45 minutes throughout the day.

  • All students have 2 recess breaks per day and 2 PE classes per week.

  • Lower grades enjoy the Ready Bodies, Learning Minds curriculum.

Civics

At Wing Classical Academy, we believe that the life of the mind and the very possibility of learning flourish only within a flourishing civilization—one marked by ordered liberty, justice, and the security that allows free inquiry under God’s sovereign rule.

Through the thoughtful study of history, our students come to see how rare and fragile these blessings truly are. They gain a deep appreciation for the unprecedented blessings of our American republic, rooted in the timeless principles of God’s Word and the Western tradition. In examining our nation’s history, students cultivate a mature and discerning love for America—one that measures the health of our republic against the high standards set forth in our founding documents.

From this foundation, our students are formed as citizens who can judge rightly what ought to be preserved and what prudently reformed. In doing so, they fulfill a central part of their calling as image-bearers of God, becoming free men and women who serve their communities and country with humility, integrity, and moral courage—all to the glory of Christ.

This school has been a godsend for our family. We were seeking a school that would provide a community devoted to educating our child that was free from the distractions that come from chasing the latest popular trends and didn’t require us to sign a Big Tech data-release that would follow our child on the computer at school all day. We love the focus on the essential, tried-and-true education.

Wing Classical Academy offers a traditional classical Christian liberal arts education.

Our core subjects include the following liberal arts and sciences:

  • Literature (the great books, including philosophy and politics), which explore human nature

  • English Composition and Grammar, necessary for the student to write and speak professionally, and, in the earlier grades, Phonics (which helps students decipher words on their own) and Cursive

  • Art and Music, which guide and instruct the student in beauty and prepares them to participate in that beauty for their entire lives

  • Mathematics and sciences (these highlight the beauty and brilliance of the mind of God as revealed to Man and teach about the natural order)

  • History, which helps us to understand the unfolding human story

  • Latin, a hallmark of classical education as it developes depth and organization in one’s thought and an excellent preparation for further study in the modern languages
